Excellence Manufacturing Every Time
When planning a new product launch, the most critical question manufacturers ask is: “How much does an injection mold cost?” While the market is flooded with varying price points, understanding what goes into a professional quotation is essential for long-term project success.
At SHD, we believe that transparency is the foundation of trust. Today, we are breaking down our pricing structure to help you understand exactly where your investment goes and why “cheap” isn’t always “cost-effective.”

Understanding the components of a mold’s price helps you compare quotes accurately. Our comprehensive pricing includes:
A common pain point in the tooling industry is the “hidden fee” trap. Many suppliers attract clients with an initial low-ball price, only to demand additional payments later for minor adjustments or standard processes.
We guarantee that our prices are absolutely transparent. Unless there is a formal Product Structure Change initiated by the client that requires significant mold modification, we will never charge additional fees. We believe that low-price baiting followed by mid-project price hikes is irresponsible and damaging to the client’s business.
Q1: Why is there such a wide range in injection mold costs?
A: The cost depends on the complexity of the part, the type of steel used, the number of cavities (single vs. multi-cavity), and the expected mold life. A high-precision mold for 1 million cycles will cost more than a prototype mold.
Q2: Will the price change after the project starts?
A: At SHD, once the price is confirmed based on the final 3D design, it is fixed. Extra costs only occur if you decide to change the product design after the mold base has been ordered or machining has begun.
Q3: What happens if the first mold trial (T1) is unsuccessful?
A: Our quote includes two mold trials. We use these trials to fine-tune the dimensions and finish. Any corrections needed to meet the original agreed-upon specifications are covered by us.
Q4: How can I get an accurate quote for my project?
A: To provide an accurate answer to “How much does an injection mold cost?”, we need your 3D files (STP/STEP format), material choice, and estimated annual production volume.
